Three simple words. One powerful message.
Thanksgiving Day. A day when people stop and think about what they are truly grateful for. It’s a day when we purposefully ponder the concept of gratitude.
During my quiet time this morning, I ran across a quote: “Trust the Journey.” I thought about these words, this upcoming holiday season, and the message, the vision of our journey, struck a new chord. I thought about the people and moments of my journey and SDHR Consulting, creating something incredibly unique, memorable, and ever-growing.
I found new meaning in the words “Trust the Journey.” It highlights that every challenge, interaction, and moment has something to teach us. Even days that go in a different direction than we planned have a lesson in them, allowing us to find something to be thankful for each day.
In every decision we make in our path and the journey we lead others through, we have no guarantees that the decisions will always be correct. In fact, we know some will be wrong. It’s almost certain that we will look back at those times and ask, “What was I thinking?” But each decision is part of that journey, and when we can find a way to be thankful for those moments, gratitude can transform each day.
William Arthur Ward said this well; “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”
We live in a culture of achievement where we focus on the bottom line; the success of what we have achieved is the prize. But the quote, “Trust the Journey,” takes me back to the moments and the people that make up the journey and, specifically, how grateful I am for how those roads came together.
The entrepreneurial journey is just that—a journey. It evolves through tough days, fear, fights, growth, shifts, hard decisions, laughter, celebrations, moments of thankfulness, and lots of chocolate. There is always something to be grateful for on our journey, big or small. This morning’s personal reflection time—just me and my morning smoothie—was a great reminder of how thankful I am to be on this journey with you all.
So, on this Thanksgiving Day in 2024—which also marks our 20th year in business—I am deeply grateful for the people who have been with us on our journey of growing SDHR Consulting. You make us better! Your passion for our service, support of our culture, and genuine loyalty to our team are remarkable.
To our exceptional team, the families that support them, and past and present clients who have been part of our growth and who make SDHR Consulting what it is today, Thank You!
Today and every day, I am grateful for the journey.
