The filing and payment deadline for taxes has been extended to July 15, 2020, in response to the financial situation surrounding COVID-19. For those who are unable to file by the extended date, the IRS urges everyone to request an extension to file their return through their tax software or using the “Free File” link on IRS.gov. This extension applies to all individual returns, trusts, and corporations. Any taxes that are unpaid by the July 15, deadline will face penalties and interest will begin to accrue. Avoid all penalties and interest by filing and paying all taxes by July 15, 2020.
